about

Datapanic is a project created in 2020 by The Ox* brand and by Scuola FuoriNorma involving a digital music compilation released twice a year.

The formula is reminiscent of 1980s and 1990s tape and vinyl compilations and is aimed at re-energising personal relations between musicians as well as redefining the concept of “music genre” itself.

The main idea lying behind Datapanic concerns the notion of limit and its effect on the available compositional possibilities. We believe that limits are a great opportunity to unleash one’s creativity, therefore we ask musicians to compose a 60-second track (of any genre) following a theme.
All things considered, we hope that in the long run the music of Datapanic will show peculiar characteristics and perhaps Datapanic itself will become a standard or a genre.

Each author remains the owner of his/her own track and will be able to use or release it elsewhere citing the Datapanic project.

We are interested in creating a mental/geographical context, bringing relationships back to the center of music and, above all, in stimulating the formation of transversal musical genres through aesthetic and philosophical reflections on limits, freedom and time. ... more
